 A month old baby’s life – Breast feeding a month old and its appearance

A month old baby generally survives on the nutrition it derives from its mother’s milk. The mother’s milk becomes the most important source of nutrition since it contains most of the important nutrients needed by a new born. The lactating mothers should take necessary care of their health. Mothers should stop breast feeding their month old babies in case they are suffering from any infection or health complication. The health of the mother determines the amount of nutrition the baby derives from her milk. Breast feeding is one of the most important parts of a month old baby’s life. The nutritional needs of the baby must be fulfilled in order to make sure that it remains in good health for the remaining growth phases.

Every month baby looks different from the other. The month old baby appearance changes from time to time and the most distinguishable part is the head. The head is generally bigger than the rest of the body. In case of new born and month old babies; the brain is bigger and more developed compared to the rest of the body. There might be appearance of a lump or two on the head of the month old and it is a common phenomenon in month old baby appearance. The lumps on the baby’s head occur due to the help it might have received during its birth. Caesarean babies often have the marks of deep forceps on their forehead and the fore head is unusually broad in some cases.

Month old babies have a reddish skin color since the skin layer is very delicate and underdeveloped. The skin is sometimes rough and scaly. The layer of skin present in the body of a month old is very delicate and hence proper care of the skin must be taken to ensure that it remains free of any infection. Damages to the skin may also occur due to rough handling of the month old baby. Month old babies have to be treated with baby creams and baby powders to ensure that it does not develop any sort of skin infections. Skin infections in a new born are certainly unwanted and therefore the month old babies should be kept in moisture free environments to ensure minimum harm.

The eyes of month babies are pretty small and they are usually red shot. Blood shot eyes are an indication of excess oxygen production in the blood vessels. The Hemoglobin level is also high in month old babies. Swelling in the breast region of month old babies is quite common since the hormonal balances force it to swell. The gradual developmental stages of the baby show that it is completely disproportionate during the first few months and gradually the proportions are taken back to normal. The disproportionate appearance is due to the incomplete development of the various parts of the body including various life functions.

In simple terms one can say that the month old babies look funny. The funny appearance is entirely due to the fact that the eyes and nose are completely out of shape. The nose of a month old baby is usually flattened and this imparts a very funny look to the baby. The umbilical cord remains a bit elongated and this is a part of the baby’s body which must be taken care of. The umbilical cord is a very sensitive portion and care must be taken to ensure that it does not suffer from any injury or infection. Infections may creep in case the area is kept wet and care must be taken to ensure that it remains dry.
